Everyone who's been to Corsica says its wonderful so -in September I was off to test my new rucksack. The youth hostel in Calvi was our first stop - as recommended by Miles - very nice except having a tardis in the mixed dormitories that served as a shower - not a place for the shy and retiring!

I watch the haul sack go up 2 millimetres, "its no good Ed, it weighs a ton". Karl is on the first pitch of the regular route on Half Dome, its taken us 6 months of talking, training and more talking about this moment, we had practiced aiding, practiced jumaring, practiced hauling and it looked as if we would stumble at the first hurdle.
